ELSA – Emotional Literacy Support Assistant – Training – Cheshire East and Stockport

September 2019 to April 2020

This ELSA training course is designed for ELSA accreditation of Learning Support Assistants in schools or other settings.

ELSA Training Course Components

Our ELSA training course provides six full days of training from HCPC registered educational psychologists on aspects of emotional literacy including:-

  1. Emotional Awareness
  2. Self Esteem
  3. Managing difficult emotions
  4. Social and friendship skills
  5. Social communications difficulties
  6. Loss
  7. Bereavement
  8. Family break-up

Our ELSA training course is augmented and supported with 6 days of supervision for the trainee ELSA’s delivered monthly over the period of the course in a local group of either primary or secondary ELSA’s. The delegates attending the course may also receive additional individual support from their supervisor, if needed, usually by telephone or email contact.

Costs and Prices

Our ELSA training course charge is £755.00 per delegate for the full six days of training plus the 6 days of supervision.

We have an Early Bird Offer for the ELSA training course of £695.00 per delegate for those delegates who book and pay before the 31st July 2019, offering a saving of £60.00 for early booking.

Training Sessions are held from 9:30 am to 3.30 pm on the following dates:-

  2. Monday 21/10/2019   Building Resilience and Self-Esteem: Part 1
  3. Monday 25/11/2019   Building Resilience and Self-Esteem: Part 2
  4. Monday 20/01/2020  Understanding Feelings, Social, and Friendship Skills
  5. Monday 10/02/2020  Story Work, Loss, and Bereavement
  6. Monday 16/03/2020  Puppet Work, Active Listening and Reflective Conversations

Supervision Sessions are scheduled from 9.30am to 11.30 am on the Mondays 14/10/2019, 11/11/2019, 9/12/2019, 3/2/2020, 09/03/2020 and 30/3/2020

Notes:

PLACES: Delegate places for ELSA trainees are limited. This booking system will allocate spaces based on a purchased ticket basis.

PAYMENT: All delegate bookings have to be paid for within 7 days of booking.

ATTENDANCE: Delegates are requested to note that in order for you to receive certification for your training you will be required to attend all the course training sessions. A register will be maintained.

CHANGES TO DELIVERY TIMES: Please note the course presentation delivery dates may be amended, subject to the agreement of all delegates and presenters.

MINIMUM COHORT: Our ELSA training course delivery is subject to a minimum number of delegates signing up. If the ELSA course delivery is cancelled by us due to minimum numbers not being achieved, you will be refunded your ELSA course fees paid to us.

WAITING LIST: We will hold a waiting list in the event of this course being oversubscribed and, subject to numbers, another ELSA course will be arranged either concurrently (on different days) or as soon as possible after that.

Wilmslow Library

The Wilmslow Library is located in the town centre of Wilmslow, Cheshire. The Library is behind the department store HOOPERS and near the Sainbury’s Store.

The  training and supervision events are held in Meeting Room 2 on the first floor of the Wilmslow library.

The Facility 

The meeting rooms are on the first floor of the library. Disabled access is available. There is a lift available.

Toilets: An accessible toilet is available on the ground floor.

The meeting rooms have a common kitchen facility.

Lunch and Local amenities

The town centre of Wilmslow is a well serviced retail area. On offer are a wide variety of eating venues and sandwich/deli shops. The town centre has a large number of shops and a pedestrian area. Nearby there is a large Sainsbury’s store, as well as a Tesco Express.

Train Services:

The Wilmslow Library is located within easy walking distance, of approximately 5 minutes, of the Wilmslow Train station with direct access lines to Salford Cresent, Manchester Picadilly/ Oxford Road, Stockport, Cheadle Hulme, Manchester Airport and Crewe. The station is well served by Northern Rail, Cross Country, Arriva and Virgin Train services.

Bus Services:

Wilmslow Library is within easy reach of the Wilmslow Bank Square bus stop. Wilmslow bus services are D & G Coaches and Arriva North West. The 130 links to Manchester, Cheadle and Macclesfield and the 88 links to Altringham, Mobberley and Knutsford. We recommend attendees alight at Wilmslow Bank Square. Vehicle Road Access:

Wilmslow town centre can be reached from the M56 via the Junction 6 and the A34. The road sign turnings for Wilmslow are well advertised.

Parking:

Wilmslow Town center has ample Pay and Display parking. We recommend attendees park in the Cheshire East Council, Broadway Meadow, Wilmslow, SK9 1NB car park long stay Pay and Display parking. This is accessed by following the road signs for Wilmslow Leisure centre and the Council parking is located near the Leisure centre (‘Everybody’).  This parking is a short 5 minute walk from the library. There is alternative parking near the library and this is slightly more expensive. Disabled parking is available in the Sainbury’s Pay and Display parking next to the Library.
